Carman firefighters used a hydraulic rescue tool to free the driver of a pickup that hit an SUV head-on, killing the driver instantly, on Hamburg Street between Glengary Road and Chism Street. The driver of the pickup was taken by LifeNet helicopter to Albany Medical Center for treatment. He was charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony driving while intoxicated.
