At 0313 on April 4, 2024, an explosion rocked the neighborhood off of Everett Road in Colonie. The explosion, caused by a leaky gas line which had been worked on the prior day, completely destroyed one structure on Everett Road and the two restaurants within. West Albany, Shaker Road-Loudonville, Fuller Road, Colonie Village and Menands fire departments worked an exterior response due to weakened, collapsed walls and roof. One Colonie Village firefighter was injured due to falling parts of the roof. He was treated at a nearby hospital and released. The building was demolished later in the day.
