On May 13, 2016 — Friday — Medford Engine Company 2521 was dispatched to an animal rescue. On arrival, crews located a dog that had crawled into a gap in the foundation of the structure. The crew measured the interior wall of the garage and used saws to open up, after determining that an exterior rescue was not possible. The hole they created enabled them to see the dog, but he was still nearly three-feet down. After making the hole bigger, 2521’s crew, assisted by the homeowner, coerced the dog to come closer so it could be grabbed. Minimal damage was done to the home and the dog made it out unscathed.
