On October 13, 2016, a former Department of Public Works building on Cedar Street in Dobbs Ferry caught fire. About 100 firefighters responded from Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Hastings and Ardsley. Members mounted an aggressive interior attack in the building, despite what sounded like ammunition going off. The building houses a furniture restoration business and commercial vehicle storage.
