SUFFOLK, Virginia

(February 25, 2022)

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the scene of a
working commercial structure fire in the 100 block of Bell Avenue, Friday,
February 25, 2022, at Rillco, Inc. Emergency Communications was contacted at 1:17
p.m.

Fire Chief Michael Barakey advised the first unit arrived on the scene at 1:24 p.m. As of
2 p.m., the incident is still a working fire operation. No injuries have been reported at
this time.

Portions of East Washington Street in the area of the incident are closed due to fire
operations.

Responding units include Battalion 1, Battalion 3, Car 1, Car 3, Engine 1, Engine 10,
Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 6, EMS 1, Fire Marshal 4, Ladder 6, Medic 1, Medic 3,
Safety 1 and Suffolk Police along with the Chesapeake Fire Department which is
providing mutual aid and backfill support.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
