On May 1, 2018, Dauphin-Middle Paxton Fire Company Station 38 responded for a porch fire. Duncannon Fire Company 2, dispatched on the initial box, advised county of a column of smoke and the box was upgraded to a first alarm. The home sat up at the foot of a mountain and had a tight, single-lane driveway. Squad 2 laid in a five-inch line. A tanker had unsuccessfully attempted to reach the house. A second alarm was requested for manpower as the initial attack ran out of water. Tankers arrived to feed Tanker 38 from Dauphin-Middle Paxton. The log home was lost to a small control burn that had spread to the back deck/porch area and then spread to the home itself.
