The volunteer fire companies of Cologne and Mays Landing, along with the township EMS and police, responded to the intersection of Cologne Avenue and the Black Horse Pike for an MVA. Upon arrival, it was discovered the crash was further down the pike and involved a vehicle on its side with one occupant entrapped, which prompted the dispatch of Laureldale. Firefighters and EMS worked together using numerous types of tools to do a roof removal and remove the occupant, who was transported by EMS to the trauma center.
