Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company (Newark Fire Department) responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Edjil Drive in the community of Yorkshire on December 21, 2015. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire throughout the two-story,

single-family dwelling. One resident was home at the time of the fire and was able to escape along with a dog. Christiana, Mill Creek, Cranston Heights, Five Points, Minquas of Newport and NCC Emergency Medical Service assisted. The fire was under control in 30 minutes, however the fire department remained on the scene for over two hours. The home was heavily damaged, and uninhabitable. The resident of the home was transported to the hospital by fire department ambulance to be evaluated for minor injuries. The

fire was under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The displaced family included the father, mother, and five children. Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, along with other area agencies, were coordinating efforts to assist the family, who lost everything just days before Christmas.
