The Midway Fire Department and the Town of Colonie Fire Departments paid their respects and honors to Chief Meaghan Sammons who answered her last call on March 29, 2015. Chief Sammons was the first female fire chief in the Town of Colonie. Chief Sammons lost her battle with cancer, which she fought hard against. She was applauded for her leadership and mentorship with not only the Fire Service, Emergency Services but also with the Girls, Inc. Chief Sammons will be remembered by all who knew her for her positivity, concern for others and her smile. A scholarship program has been created in her name to help support and mentor young women at GIRLS, Inc.
