The Carlstadt Fire Department responded to Commercial Avenue on May 12, 2016, for a fire in a single-story, T-shaped building. Heavy fire was located in the garage and office areas on the A-D corner. Soon after arrival, at least one compressed gas cylinder exploded, forcing command to go to a defensive attack utilizing two ladder pipes, several ground monitors and outside handlines. The roof in the fire area eventually collapsed but companies were successful in keeping the fire from spreading further. The fire went to four alarms for manpower and due to water supply issues. One firefighter was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
