On April 24, 2024, the Clayton Fire Company assisted the Citizen’s Hose Company of Smyrna with a tractor trailer fire in the area of milemarker 69. The Squad and Rescue were dispatched to assist Engine 44-2 and Tanker 44. In addition, Smyrna was handling a reported serious accident approximately a mile north of the fire location. Engine 45 was also dispatched for manpower and extra water. Crews from Clayton assisted in overhaul and the Squad remained on scene to standby with Engine 44-2 after the tanker was released. During this time Clayton had a traumatic injury of a lacrosse player who was flown from the First State Military Academy. In addition, a few ambulance runs were covered in the Smyrna Clayton area.
