On July 30, 2016, the Boonton Fire Department celebrated their 125th anniversary. As part of this special occasion the fire department assembled a collection of their apparatus, old and new, along with all of its members for a commemorative photo. The Boonton Fire Department was formed in 1891 shortly after a major fire occurred on Grant Street. The department consists entirely of volunteers, and handles an average of 130 calls a year.
