On March 24, 2014, the Bohemia Fire Department and the entire Bohemia community lost a dear friend, dedicated community-minded leader and veteran, Thomas D. Croci.

Tom had a distinguished 30-year career in education, having taught health for 20 years in the Connetquot High School. During his time in the district, he held the titles of Assistant Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at the high school as well as Assistant Principal and Principal of two of the district’s elementary schools. Tom was also a basketball coach as well as a Senior Class Advisor.

Over the years, Tom received many honors for his dedication and commitment to the community. In 2006, the Connetquot Foundation for the Advancement of Children honored Tom for his dedication to the community and school district. He was also the recipient of the Edward Krepela Citizen of the Year Award sponsored by the Bohemia Fire Department as well as the Founders Award presented by the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.

Tom was involved in many of our events. For over 20 years, he was the Master of Ceremonies for our annual Memorial Day and Holiday parades as well as the September 11 Anniversary Memorials.

Words cannot begin to describe how much we miss Tom. Our department and community are truly privileged to have known him and to have had the great honor of calling him our neighbor and dear friend.
