On February 14, 2017, Belmar Fire Department Stations 1, 2 and 3 responded to the Seaport Marina located on 5th Avenue. Crews arrived to find heavy fire in two boat racks containing over 14 boats. A commercial building, connected by a temporary wooded structure, became the main focus of arriving crews. Mutual aid crews saved a neighboring apartment complex and additional boats. An abundance of burning gasoline flooding the fireground coupled with significant exposure issues made this an extremely dangerous, complex fire scene requiring response from several agencies. Also responding were fire crews from Avon, Spring Lake, Glendola, South Wall, Spring Lake Heights, Ocean Grove and Long Branch; the New Jersey State Police, Monmouth County Fire Marshals and Sheriffs Neptune Special Ops, and Monmouth DEP.
