A basement fire was reported on Evergreen Avenue in Central Islip on March 17, 2015. Central Islip Chief of Department Kevin McAteer, Jr., reported smoke showing on arrival. A rapid interior attack quickly had the fire under control which was found to involve a clothes dryer. The CIFD responded with six units and 45 firefighters, and Chief McAteer requested mutual aid from Brentwood, East Brentwood, Islip Terrace and Hauppauge.
