Past-Chief and active member of the Baltic Fire Department for 52 years, Alphonse ‘Hogan’ Girard was also a Marine during WWII and the USMC provided a Marine Honor Guard  with a gun salute, playing of Taps and the flag from Hogan’s coffin being folded and presented to Assistant Chief and son of Hogan, Thomas Girard. Many area fire chiefs and members also attended to show their respect to the Girard family to express their thanks for Hogan’s public service as a fire fighter and a Marine.
