On January 27, 2021, at 12:50 p.m., an Engine Company and Paramedic Unit from the Aurora Fire Department (IL) responded to the intersection of New York Street and Commons Drive for a vehicle crash with injuries. Upon arrival, firefighters and paramedics found a two-vehicle crash with a 47-year-old male pinned in one of the vehicles. The alarm was upgraded to an Extrication Response, bringing a Truck Company and Battalion Chief to the scene. The Truck Company, assisted by the Engine Company, extricated the patient, who was then transferred to awaiting paramedics. The patient was treated and transported in stable condition to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora. One other occupant involved in the crash was assessed on scene by paramedics; however, the person refused treatment and transport to a hospital.
