STRUCTURE FIRE
On August 29, 2022, at 4:40 a.m., the Aurora Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1500 block of
E. New York Street. Bystanders driving by reported the fire. Aurora Police arrived on the scene and reported
the fire was burning through the roof. The alarm was upgraded to the 2nd level bringing a total of 24 firefighters
to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a 1-story restaurant with heavy fire showing. Fire crews stretched multiple hand
lines and brought the fire under control in approximately 1 hour. Firefighters remained on the scene for another
hour, searching for and extinguishing hot spots. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and there
were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The building was deemed uninhabitable, and the cause of the fire is
under investigation.
