Just after midnight on June 19, 2015, the Bay Shore Fire Department responded to a reported attic fire at a South Union Street home. Chief of Department Ippolito arrived and requested mutual aid from West Islip for RIT to the scene, and Islip for an additional engine. Engine 3-1-1 was first due and its crew had one line stretched and operating as the crew from Ladder 3-1-4 opened up the attic from the inside and vented the roof. Engine 3-1-5 supplied 3-1-1. The fire was knocked down and brought under control in about 30 minutes with no reported injuries. Units from North Babylon and Brentwood stood by for Bay Shore. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
