On May 18, 2016, M-LFD Companies 3, 5, and the ambulance unit were toned out for an overturned truck with possible entrapment on the westbound LIE between New Hyde Park Road and Community Drive. Ex-Captain Chen was first on scene and advised there was an overturned construction truck on the center median, with negative entrapment but an active fuel leak. Deputy Chiefs Stone and Gobbo were on scene moments later, as was Rescue 8730 and Squad 8759. The driver of the truck was transported to NSUH by NCPD EAB. The crews of 8730 and 8759 were able to slow the fuel leak and dyke a storm drain. There was a small fire in the cab which was quickly extinguished, and Nassau County Hazmat was called for the spill. New York State DOT was also requested for a sander and payloader. Deputy Chief Mazurkiewicz, HR8730, and Ambulance 8767 were then relocated from the scene to another MVA at Northern Boulevard and Pickwick Road.
