The Uniondale Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire on Cunningham Avenue. First Assistant Chief Martinez arrived to fire showing from the basement window of the house. Engine 7533 stretched an initial line through the basement stairs to begin to attack the fire. The fire was raised to a second alarm due to the difficult access to the basement, which also extended to the first floor. During suppression efforts, units encountered a floor collapse; no members were injured. The fire was placed under control in under two hours.
