Nine residents were displaced after an apartment building fire in the Kensington Club Apartments in Lancaster Township along Wabank Road. Lancaster Township and a mutual aid engine from Blue Rock responded. Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions in a kitchen nook. The flames began to consume the contents of the adjoining dining room and living room when firefighters entered.Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames, but heavy smoke had charged a second-floor apartment above the burning apartment. Fire-retardant drywall kept the fire from extending. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin.
