In the span of just a few weeks, 10 percent of the active members of the Hermitage Fire Department in western Pennsylvania tied the knot … and we don’t mean a bowline!

Firefighter Katie Pepe and Firefighter Chris Conn exchanged their marriage vows on Friday afternoon, May 20, 2016, at Hermitage’s R.S. Goeltz Station 1. Four-inch hoses formed an aisle in the apparatus bays, and boots filled with flowers added a splash of color.

Then on July 2, 2016, Firefighter Aurelia (Rae) Cheney and Firefighter Adam Prather were married at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Hermitage. Following the ceremony, they rode off aboard Ladder 411.

Fire Chaplain David Williamson officiated at both ceremonies.
