STRUCTURE FIRE

On April 28, 2022, at 9:44 a.m., the Aurora Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 2900
block of Savannah Drive. The homeowner noticed the fire, called 911, and reported that everyone was
out of the home. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 1-story, wood-frame, single-family home with heavy
smoke showing from the garage and front door. The alarm was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm, bringing 24
firefighters to the scene.

An Engine Company advanced their hose line through the 1st-floor front door while the Truck Company
performed a primary search and assisted in advancing the hose line. An additional Engine and Truck
Company were assigned to the attic to search for fire extension. The fire was contained to the garage;
however, the home sustained heavy smoke damage. Three adults were displaced as the house was
deemed uninhabitable. The occupants did not need assistance from Victim Services. There were no
injuries to civilians or firefighters, and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
