Nitro Fire Department responded to an early morning three-alarm blaze in Putnam County that did extensive damage to 22 units at Devonshire Apartments off of Teays Valley Road in Scott Depot. A lightning strike was thought to be the cause of the fire that gutted the three-story complex. Units from Putnam, Kanawha and Cabell counties responded. The Red Cross was on the scene assisting the displaced residents. The West Virginia State Fire Marshall was investigating.
