New Rochelle firefighters were sent to Franklin Avenue for multiple calls reporting a structure fire. On arrival, companies found heavy fire on the exterior of the building running from the ground to the cockloft. Companies worked quickly to start knocking down fire as other firefighters went in to search for victims. A second alarm was transmitted due to the possibility of fire in the cockloft but crews were able to make a good stop with three lines and keep the fire to one section of the building.
