Newark (OH) Division of Fire, along with area mutual aid, operated at a structure fire at Bummies Pub and Grub, on North Cedar Street. Crews arrived on scene and were met with smoke and fire conditions showing from the second floor of the structure. Crews immediately began suppression efforts, search/rescue, and the incident was upgraded to a second alarm. No occupants or civilians were found to be inside at the time firefighters were performing searches. Despite the aggressive tactics and extremely hard work by the crews, the fire spread to the void spaces in the building which ultimately resulted in devastating damage. Mutual aid came from City of Heath, Madison Township, Granville Township, Newton Township, Newark Township, Licking Township, Refugee-Canyon, Thorn Township, and West Licking Joint Fire District.
