The North Amityville, Copiague and Amityville fire departments were alerted for a house fire on Bayview Avenue about 0130 on April 23, 2024. Copiague and Amityville Third Assistant Chiefs Orlando and Langford arrived to smoke showing from a two-story home. Upon further investigation, heavy fire was found in the basement, which had already extended to the first floor and was quickly spreading to the second floor and attic. Amityville Chief of Department Juliano arrived and took command until North Amityville Second Assistant Chief Rhoden arrived. Copiague Engine 1-3-9 and Engine 1-7-1 arrived and those crews worked to get the first two lines in operation, with one going to the basement, the other to the first floor. As additional engines arrived, at least one more line was put into operation on the second floor. Conditions deteriorated quickly, and all members were evacuated from the home. North Lindenhurst Ladder 1-11-4 put its master stream into operation to knock heavy fire that had now caused the roof to collapse. The fire was brought under control in about two hours. All searches were negative, and there were no reported injuries. Ten adults and five children were displaced by the fire and were assisted by the Red Cross. Mutual aid to the scene was provided by Amityville, Copiague, Lindenhurst, North Lindenhurst, Massapequa, Farmingdale, South Farmingdale and East Farmingdale.
