The Hillcrest Fire Department was toned out to a structure fire on Ibeck Court, around 0200. Incoming 911 calls stated that people may be trapped in the building. Under the command of Chief Frank Youngman, firefighters arrived to find heavy fire in the front and rear of the home, and flames showing through the roof. Firefighters mounted an interior attack and began searches with the help of incoming mutual aid departments. Luckily, all occupants of the apartment building were able to evacuate prior to the fire department’s arrival. One firefighter was removed to the hospital by EMS and is believed to have suffered heat related injuries. The cause of the fire was being investigated by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office BCI and the Ramapo Police Department.
