On April 27, 2008, the South Farmingdale Fire
Department responded to a report of a house fire with people
trapped in the vicinity of Lyons Avenue and Woodward Parkway.
First arriving units found heavy fire coming from the basement
windows of a Lyons Avenue home with all occupants out of the
house. Multiple mutual aids went out to neighboring departments.
All interior operations were stopped and an exterior operation
began after a partial collapse of the first floor. Two tower
ladders were put to work along with exterior lines to knock down
the fire that was now through the roof.
