Centereach Fire Department Celebrates
their 75th Anniversary
The Centereach Fire Department will
celebrate their 75th Anniversary at the 2008 Southern New York State Parade
and Drill held Friday, June 13, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. at the Firemen’s Field in
Ridge. The rain date is Saturday, June 14, at 9:00 a.m. The parade will take
place on Saturday, June 14, starting at 6:00 p.m. in Centereach. Over 50
departments from the tri-state area will attend. There will be a special
appearance of the Fraternal Order of the Leatherheads (F.O.O.L.S), and a
Vegas night on Friday and Saturday, June 13-14, from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00
p.m. at the main house of the Centereach Fire Department, 9 South Washington
Avenue, Centereach.
Department of homeland security opens
application period for staffing for adequate fire and emergency services
(safer) grants
The Department of
Homeland Security (DHS) has posted the Program Guidance document for the
FY2008 SAFER Grants at the website for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant
(AFG) Program -
www.firegrantsupport.com. Under the Department of Homeland Security
Appropriations Act of 2008, Congress appropriated $190 million for SAFER
Grants. Beginning May 27, 2008, at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will begin accepting applications for
SAFER Grants. The deadline for receipt of the SAFER Grant applications will
be 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on June 27, 2008. The applications will
be automated and will be accessible from the website for the Assistance to
Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program at
www.firegrantsupport.com. The SAFER Grants are administered by the
Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency.
On June 17, 2008, the Bellport Fire Department will sponsor its annual golf
tournament at the Bellport Country Club. The cost is $135.00 per player,
which includes breakfast ( 7:30 a.m. at the firehouse ), lunch, and dinner
at the Country Club. This also includes greens fees and a golf cart. Prizes
will be awarded at the cocktail party and dinner following the tournament.

Bellport 11th annual Craft Fair
On July 26, 2008, the Bellport Fire Department’s Buzzard
Hook & Ladder Company will hold its 11th annual Craft Fair, from 10:00 a.m.
– 4:00 p.m. There will be over 50 vendors. This is held in conjunction with
Bellport Day. Anyone wanting to be a vendor, please contact

CRUISE NIGHTS
The Mattituck Fire
Department is sponsoring Automotive CRUISE NIGHTS every Friday night
starting June 6th, (Except the 4th of July) through Labor Day weekend
(August 29th) The dates are 6/6, 6/13, 6/20, 6/27, 7/11, 7/8, 7/25, 8/1,
8/8, 8/15, 8/22, 8/29, from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Veteran's Park, Bay
Boulevard, Mattituck. The cost is $5 per car, $2 for "walk-ins," Children
under 12 free. Food and drinks will be sold. All proceeds to go to the
Mattituck Fire Department. Bring your friends and family and show off your

5th Annual Cigar Night
The Friends of Michael
N. Tufarella invite you to the 5th Annual Cigar Night, with dinner and
drinks at the Hauppauge Fire Department Pavilion, 855 Wheeler Road,
Hauppauge, on Friday, June 27, 2008. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m.,
