EMS Memorial Bike Ride Remembers

The EMS Memorial bike ride made a stop at the Perth Amboy Fire Headquarters for memorial service and a bit of rest on May 16 2009. The bike ride runs from New York to Virginia. The 600 mile trip was held from May 16 to the May 22nd. The ride raises awareness to EMS line of duty deaths and honors the EMS workers who lost their life in the line of duty. This stop also honored Joseph E. Murawski who lost his life while treating a patient on June 17, 2007. Joe was a Paramedic for Raritan Bay Medical Center and also served as volunteer EMT in Perth Amboy.

Firefighters Honored ay the BlueClaws Game

 

On June 27, 2009, the Lakewood BlueClaws baseball team, a single “A” team for the Philadelphia Phillies, hosted “Firefighters Night." A number of companies throughout Ocean and Monmouth counties attended the game. Companies from Point Pleasant, Lacey Township, Lakewood, Lanoka Harbor, Mystic Island, and many more attended the game. Between games, firefighters were brought onto the field to be recognized for what they do for there towns.


During the second game, a huge water fight broke out between fire companies. The fans got a real treat and enjoyed being cooled down on the hot summer’s night. By the way, the BlueClaws won both games by a score of 1-0 and 3-2.

Carlstadt Holds Wetdown

 

On Saturday May 30, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Carlstadt Fire Department Engine Company Number Three, "F-Troop," held a Wet Down for their new 2008 Pierce Velocity pumper.

The new pumper, which replaces a 1983 Mack CF Pumper, which has been retired after 25 years of dedicated service, is an eight man cab, powered by a 500 h.p. Cummins Turbo Diesel Engine. It has the latest Pierce Tak-4 Independent Front Suspension, a 2000 GPM Waterous Pump, Onboard 8KW Generator, 750 Gallon Water Tank, 3 Cross-lays & 6 Other Pre-Connects for Quick Fire Suppression. It also carries over 1000' of 5 “LDH as well as several hundred feet of smaller diameter hose.


The Wet Down was held at the Washington Avenue Firehouse, Fort Courage, in Carlstadt and included live entertainment provided by The Flying Mueller Brothers, as well as a DJ and special guest Uncle Floyd.


The members of Engine Company Three would like to thank all the fire companies who attend the event and made it a great time for everyone.

Weather Breaks for East Rutherford Wetdown

 

On June 14, 2009, the East Rutherford Fire Department hosted a quadruple wetdown. After a well deserved break in bad weather, there was a nice showing for the event. The Oradell Fire Department and the Foam Unit, along with fire departments from throughout Bergen County and New Jersey State showed up to wish East Rutherford luck and well wishes.
