Serving together at the Dix Hills Fire Department are Howard Kaplan and his daughter Elyssa Kaplan. Howard has nine of years of service, and is currently the Second Lieutenant of headquarters Engine Company 2. Elyssa, 15, has been in the juniors for a year, and is a 10th grader at Half Hollow Hills High School East.

The Olofson Family is a very familiar name at the East Northport Fire Department. Brian Olofson, right, is a 30-year member, current Commissioner and Ex-Lieutenant of the Fire Police. Brian's wife Lisa, left, and their daughter Katherine, center, are both EMT's with the Rescue Squad. Lisa has almost three years service and Katherine six months. Katherine, 18, is a student at SUNY Binghamton, majoring in biology. Brian's dad Bernie was an Ex-Chief who held the top rank from 1977-1979.
