MVA with entrapment

 

On April 16, 2010, the Hicksville FD responded to a report of an MVA with entrapment at the intersection of Woodbury Road and West Gate. The driver of one car was injured and extricated through the passenger side door and transported to a local hospital. One person refused medical attention at the scene.

Southern State Parkway multi-car accident

 

 

 

On April 29, 2010, the Wantagh FD responded to a multi-car accident on the eastbound Southern State Parkway at the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway. Five people were injured, and two of them were transported to local hospitals.

West Hempstead MVA

 

 

 

The West Hempstead Fire Department was called to an early morning crash on Saturday, May 29, that injured three occupants of a vehicle and one civilian walking on the sidewalk. The accident on Hempstead Turnpike near Marlborough Road sent a car careening from the roadway, smashing into a row of stores with three people trapped inside in the vehicle. One pedestrian was struck as he walked along the sidewalk. Firefighters and police worked together to free the victims inside the car, which was covered by parts of the building and other debris. Police were investigating whether speed and/or alcohol were contributing factors. The Bethpage and North Bellmore Fire Departments were called to the scene to assist in the shoring operation.

Oceanside Collision

 

 

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Lawson Boulevard and Weinder Avenue in Oceanside on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 1400 hours. Four people were injured but none seriously. Nassau County Police and Oceanside Fire Department were on scene to assist with the aided and traffic in the area. Both north and southbound lanes of Lawson had to be shut down for an hour until the vehicles were able to be removed.

Engine Removal in West Sayville

 

 

 

On Friday, June 25, at approximately 0545 hours, the West Sayville FD responded to the scene of this single vehicle MVA on the eastbound Sunrise Highway at Lincoln Avenue. The driver of this KIA struck the center guardrail with such force the engine was torn from the vehicle. Under the command of Chief of Department Kelly Barnes, Engine 8 and Rescue 3 secured the vehicle and scene while members from Sayville Community Ambulance 3-28-18 treated, packaged, and transported the injured driver to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.
