AMKUS appoints Wilde Fire Equipment
for Eastern New York
AMKUS, Inc. proudly introduces Wilde Fire Equipment as the new Authorized
Distributor for Sales and Service in the territory of Eastern New York.
AMKUS Rescue Systems has always been a very strong and critical part of the
Fire and Rescue Services within New York State.
Wilde Fire Equipment was associated with the AMKUS product line as it was
developed in the late 1970’s and early 80’s. After many years, we are proud
to reunite with Wilde Fire Equipment with all intentions of increasing and
elevating the stringent levels of sales and service that the AMKUS
organization places on our distribution network. As part of our continuous
improvement and new product development, we continue to raise the bar on

NVFC Announces Winners of National
Junior Firefighter Scholarships
The National Volunteer Fire Council, in partnership with the Dunkin' Brands
Community Foundation, has selected 10 outstanding junior firefighters to
receive a $5,000 scholarship through the National Junior Firefighter
Scholarship and Grant Program. The departments of each of the scholarship
recipients will also receive a $5,000 grant to support their junior
firefighter programs. In total, the program has awarded $100,000, thanks to
support from the Dunkin' Brands Community Foundation.
We are thrilled with the number of high quality applications we received,"
said NVFC Executive Director Heather Schafer. "The Scholarship Review
Committee faced a difficult task, but ultimately selected 10 applicants who
serve as truly inspirational and outstanding examples of what it means to be
a junior firefighter. These 10 individuals have gone above and beyond in
their commitment and dedication to their programs, and they exemplify the
future of the fire and emergency services. We are proud to partner with the
Dunkin' Brands Community Foundation to award these scholarships."
Winning the junior firefighters and their departments will be honored during
Firehouse Expo on July 24 at the Baltimore (MD) Convention Center at
1:30p.m. in the Ballroom. Recipients will receive travel to the event
courtesy of Dunkin' Brands Community Foundation, along with complimentary
admission courtesy of Firehouse Expo. The ceremony is open to all Firehouse
Expo attendees.
One of the winners of a scholarship is Brittany Philpott of Johnsonville,
NY, Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Company. Brittany was a junior member of the
Explorer Post for four years and has served as its President. She has been
an active firefighter for two years. Brittany continued her membership in
the Explorer Post and remains a role model and mentor to the Post Officers
and new younger members. She plans on attending Hudson Valley Community
College and majoring in Business Administration.

The Firefighter Games will host their annual fall cook-off @ the Holiday
Turf in Albany October 25, 2008 with the theme of “Firehouse Chili and
Homemade Bread”.
The Winter Games will return to Cortland February 13 – 15, 2008. More
information in the upcoming months.
Walter F. Pizzi EMS Scholarship
NYC REMSCO is happy to announce the creation of the Walter F. Pizzi EMS
Scholarship. This award will be given to an EMS provider who has
demonstrated exceptional dedication to patient care for the purpose of
advancing his or her certification to the Paramedic level. The scholarship
amount is for $3,000 to be used to assist in tuition payment for a New York
State certified Paramedic program. Applications are currently being
accepted.
Applicant Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the criteria below in order to be considered for
this award. Applications received from individuals who do not meet the below
criteria will not be reviewed.
1. Applicants must be a current Certified New York State EMT-Basic
working/volunteering in the New York City region.
2. Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) years experience
working/volunteering as an EMT-Basic on an ambulance in the NYC region.
3. Applicants attending programs where tuition is waived are not eligible
for this scholarship.
4.Applicants under current disciplinary review from the New York State
Department of Health are not eligible for this scholarship.
